The City of Star Idaho...
Star is one of the oldest communities in the valley because a gentleman named M.B. Palmer started the first irrigation ditch from the river to carry irrigation water to the fields. Star Idaho is the home of the oldest Christian church in the state. The Church of Christ started meeting in Star Idaho in 1864.
Star Idaho was named for, of all things, a star. The original town site was located 1 mile east of were Star is presently located. Upon completion of the new school the settlers could not decide on a name. One of the construction workers had cut out a star and nailed it to the door of the school. This became a local landmark for miners and travelers as everyone knew if you found the school with the star on the door you could go 1 mile east and find a boarding house with rooms and hot food. So in time the town became known as Star Idaho.
Star Idaho incorporated in 1905 and established city limits of 4 miles in each direction. In 1907 Star was a Bustling community with 500 inhabitants, making it second only to Boise in size. Star Idaho, had since settled into a life as a sleepy farm town, but has reawakened as a bedroom community to Boise Idaho. The weather in Star Idaho is very similar to that in Boise Idaho. To learn more about the weather in Star Idaho, visit my Boise Idaho page which has a synopsis of Boise Idaho weather, which also is about the same as Star Idaho weather. It is not like Salt Lake in which there are areas that get more snow, or are always 10 degrees colder
